Duseries

To anyone that is interested, the Body Mechanix duathlon series is changing this year. They have sold their equipment. Diane says the new owners will change the schedule from Tuesday evenings to Sunday afternoon. This is a great competition for the cyclist due to the runs typically being a short 2miler. A lot of time can be made up on the 11-22 mile biking leg.

I'll post all the details when I get them.

Here is sample result I found from the 2004 series. I believe that this race was a 11mile ride (first ride), 2 mile run, 11 mile (second ride) with a time trial style start.

Introduction and Brief History

Scott Dibben: I've started this blog in hopes that athletes from the Lebanon Missouri area will share stories of their athletic accomplishments. I believe that this will be a great way to share stories of personal records and suggest good events and the ones to stay away from.

I will start by introducing two friends that help to keep me motivated through the rough times. These pictures are took from the 2007 duathlon series that the Body Mechanix put on in Springfield MO.

Ken Chappell: This is the guy that I can both thank and curse for getting me involved in both running and cycling. Ken has the most mental and physical drive of any athlete I've been around. In the picture shown Ken ends the ride leg of the event with a average of over 20mph. What makes this remarkable is that this was about the second time Ken had rode his bike that year.

Don Buttram: I introduced Don to biking and running a year or two ago. Since then, he has made some amazing accomplishments. He has completed more cycling events than I can count, including several century rides. While Don doesn't enjoy the running events, he is an amazing runner. During this short duathlon he ran sub 7:00 miles. Not bad for someone that doesn't like running.

Me: This is me. I've accomplished a lot due to the friends above. They have motivated me to push myself in ways that I didn't believe was possible.

Hopefully others in the Lebanon area will be willing to add their stories. I will send the login if anyone would like to add posting to this blog.
